Earlier this week, Apple released a new version of its fifth generation iPod touch. As always iFixit did a teardown of the device and found very few notable internal changes…
The two most interesting differences compared to the older model of the the iSight camera and wrist strap hooks have been left empty and for this reason the cables present in those areas have been diverted. The other difference is positioning of the microphone, it has been moved from the back of the device to the top.
Other than that the difference is not much, the device has the same thickness of 6.1mm, and weighs only 2 grams less (due to the absence of the camera and it still uses the same components, including Apple’s A5 dual-core processor with 512 MB of Mobile DDR2 RAM.
The iPod Touch 5th generation is available for purchase from the Apple Store Online at this link .
