Prepare your device for the iOS 6.1 untethered jailbreak

As you know, the Dream Team Evad3rs is preparing to release the iOS 6.1 Untehered jailbreak. They were waiting for Apple to release iOS 6.1, which Apple released last night. So, the release date of jailbreak has been announced which is this Sunday. Now as the release date is fixed it’s time to get your device ready for the jailbreak.

Preparation for iOS 6.1 Untethered Jailbreak

Step 1: Check your device

We recommend you to check your device if it is jailbreakble or not. Almost every recent device, and even some not so recent devices can be jailbroken here are the list of jailbreakble device and which does not support jailbreak.

The following devices are supported:

  • iPhone 3GS
  • iPhone 4
  • iPad 2
  • iPod touch 4th generation
  • iPhone 4S
  • iPad 3
  • iPod touch 5th generation
  • iPhone 5
  • iPad mini
  • iPad 4

The following devices are not supported at the moment:

  • iPhone 2G
  • iPhone 3G
  • iPod Touch 1G
  • iPod touch 2G
  • iPod touch 3G
  • iPad 1
  • Apple TV 3

Step 2: Back up

Backup your device via iTunes, for faster recovery,you can also do it via iCloud if you wish. In case your device is Jailbroken, then you can use a tool like “PkgBackup” which can be found in Cydia, to back up all of your Cydia tweaks and apps.

Step 3: Update your device to iOS 6.1

Once you’ve have completed step 1 & 2, go ahead and restore to iOS 6.1. You can do the update to iOS 6.1 using iTunes, not OTA (Over The Air) using the Settings > General > Software update feature found on your device. Again do not use OTA to update to iOS 6.1, The evad3rs team has recommended this.

Step 4: Get ready

And final step get some good rest and be ready for this Sunday.
